Spousal Sponsorship in Ontario
If you live in Ontario and want to sponsor your spouse or partner, the immigration process is federal, but your documents and daily life have provincial parts. I work online with couples across Ontario, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Ottawa and London.
What is the same in every province
Spousal and common-law sponsorship is run by IRCC, so the eligibility rules, forms, evidence standard and decision-making are the same wherever you live in Canada. Your provincial location does not make an application easier or harder. What matters is your situation and how well the file is prepared. See the guides on inland and outland routes and on proof of a genuine relationship.
Where your documents come from in Ontario
Your marriage certificate comes from the Office of the Registrar General, accessed through ServiceOntario. If you married in Ontario, you will normally need the marriage certificate, not only the marriage registration statement, and the certificate is issued after the wedding is registered with the province.
Wedding in Ontario: the marriage licence comes from a municipal clerk's office. Keep the licence, the registration and the certificate, because they help show the timeline of the relationship.
If you were married outside Canada, you will need the foreign marriage certificate with a certified translation if it is not in English or French.
Planning your partner's arrival in Ontario
- Provincial health coverage (OHIP) has its own application process and may have a waiting period. Check the current rules on the provincial site.
- A Social Insurance Number is a federal service and is needed to work.
- Provincial driver's licence and identification are separate steps after arrival.
If your partner arrives as a permanent resident, ask about these early, so nothing delays the first months.
How I work with couples online
I meet by video, phone or WhatsApp, including evenings and weekends, so you do not need to travel. You receive a written quote and document checklist after the consultation, and I review every document before submission. I work in English, Punjabi and Hindi.
I serve couples across Ontario, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Ottawa and London.
Common questions
Do I need to be in Ontario to book?
No. Consultations are online, and I work with sponsors across Canada.
Does living in Ontario change the application?
The federal application is the same everywhere. The provincial parts are mainly your marriage documents, health coverage and settlement after arrival.
How do I book?
Message me on WhatsApp or call 873-673-8394. I will send available appointment times.
What does the consultation cost?
The consultation is $85, credited toward your fee if you hire me. After it you receive a written, fixed fee before any work begins. Government fees are separate.
Rules, forms and fees change. This guide gives general information, not legal advice. Check the current requirements on the IRCC website, and remember that every case is assessed individually. No outcome can be guaranteed; decisions are made by IRCC.
